Lumbar Spine

DRX9000

A system for non-surgical treatment of disc herniations and other conditions of the lumbosacral spine. It treats only the segment that is causing the pain.

About the System

The Flagship of the DRX™ Lineup

The DRX9000 decompresses the affected segment of the lumbosacral spine. Unlike traction machines, it does not act on the whole spine, only on one segment from L1-L2 to L5-S1: the specific segment causing the pain.

The DRX9000 also eliminates another drawback of traction machines, the muscle memory effect: after mechanical traction, the muscles pull every spinal element back to its original position and cancel out the therapeutic effect.

The system uses modern technology that relieves nerve impingement through gradual, targeted treatment. Over the course of treatment, the intervertebral space increases, the herniation shrinks, the surrounding ligaments and muscles are strengthened, and disc hydration and mass increase, supporting disc recovery.

Key Features

Built for Precise Treatment and Patient Comfort

  • Servo-Driven Decompression Unit

    A patented electromechanical device with its own microprocessor. The computer drives the pull along the set profile while load cells continuously measure the actual force.
  • Lumbar Level Selector

    Six angle presets: L5 at 10°, L4 at 15°, L3 at 20°, L2 at 23°, L1 at 25°, and 0°, plus manual fine-tuning. The angle is chosen based on MRI findings.
  • Split Table

    A soft, two-section leather table with motorized transition from vertical to horizontal. The floating lower section reduces friction and lets the segments decompress at their own pace.
  • Lordotic Air Cushion

    An inflatable bladder in the table supports the natural curve of the lower back and helps target treatment to the right disc.
  • Upper Body Restraint

    Four-way adjustable axillary supports, a chest harness, and a harness tensioner hold the torso securely while the pull is applied to the pelvis.
  • Scale and Automatic Calculation

    The platform scale sends the patient’s weight straight to the software, and the system suggests maximum and minimum loads.
  • Touchscreen Computer and Patient Database

    The protocol is entered on a touchscreen, and every session is saved to the database and printed for medical records.
  • Patient Monitor and Headphones

    Music, educational videos, or movies help the patient relax, and muscle relaxation is a key condition for decompression.
  • Safety Switch and Diagnostics

    The switch in the patient’s hand instantly drops tension to zero. Built-in diagnostics continuously monitor critical subsystems.

Indications

Who Is a Candidate for DRX9000 Treatment

According to the manufacturer’s intended use, the DRX9000 is a primary treatment for pain and dysfunction in patients with severe low back pain and sciatica. The system is designed for decompression in compressive and degenerative spinal conditions.

  • lumbar disc herniations;
  • disc protrusions (bulges);
  • degenerative disc changes (degenerative disc disease);
  • facet syndrome;
  • sciatica and radiculopathy.

The method is also used as part of comprehensive treatment, in post-surgical rehabilitation, in sports rehabilitation, at sanatoriums and health resorts, and preventively in the early stages of degenerative disc disease.

Contraindications under the manufacturer’s protocol: pregnancy; prior lumbar spinal fusion; metastatic cancer; severe osteoporosis; unstable spondylolisthesis; recent lumbar compression fracture below L1; pars interarticularis defect; pathologic aortic aneurysm; pelvic or abdominal cancer; disc space infections; severe peripheral neuropathy; hemiplegia, paraplegia, or cognitive impairment. The physician makes the treatment decision based on examination and MRI findings.

Course of treatment: at least 20 sessions of 30 minutes over 6 weeks: daily for the first two weeks, then three sessions a week for two weeks, then two sessions a week. The physician may increase the number of sessions.
